He can see the bruises all over her and he hates even touching her like this because he worries there are even more injuries he can't see; doing CPR is brutal on the body and hers is already so fragile. But he keeps going until she finally, blessedly, takes a breath.
"I'm here, I'm right here," he presses his forehead to hers, holding onto her until the medics rush forward to take her. He's hovering, not wanting to leave her side, and he insists on riding in the ambulance with her, staying right with her the whole time.

She has no idea where she'd start with that, but maybe she has to jump into the deep end of the pool.

"I'm sorry. I don't want you to leave, and I'm sorry if I...made you feel like you needed to." He squeezes her hand, taking a deep breath. "I'll fix this."

"Do you know...why I'm like this? The tattoos I mean. I...in the mirror, I...your name. It's tattooed on my back," she says, forehead creasing.

"And...you've been looking for me. Haven't you?" she asks quietly, putting two and two together.

"This is...it's a lot," she admits, clearing her throat.

"I'm fine," he smiles a little, lying to her. "Really. I'm fine."

"I think for tonight, I'm ready to let it rest and go lay down. But...thank you, Kurt I know this isn't easy. It can't be. So, thank you."

This time, he sleeps in his own bed, though he only manages a few hours, mostly tossing and turning and dreaming of her smiling, laughing, kissing him.

"Not that I want to...complain, it's just...being cooped up all day gets harder than you'd think."

"Thanks, Maria," Kurt smiles at the server, who responds to him with his first name. So it's clear he comes here often.

"It smells good in here," she comments as she reaches for a chip, breaking a piece off into something smaller and eating.

"There's an Italian place down the street that's my favorite, too. Just kind of...built up a little network here, you know?" He dips a chip into some guacamole, enjoying the food.
